About Zapwiser

A small company that builds things that work

Zapwiser helps small businesses turn repetitive work into practical AI-enabled workflows — without building an internal AI engineering organisation. We are not a large consultancy, and we are not trying to become one.

Why we exist

Plenty of small businesses know AI could help them. Very few have any realistic route to finding out. The advice available is either aimed at organisations with data teams and seven-figure budgets, or it is a software subscription that leaves the hard part — making it work on your actual documents and processes — entirely to you.

That gap is where we work. We take one repetitive, document- or spreadsheet-heavy process, work out honestly what can be automated, and build it. The business gets a working improvement rather than a strategy deck, and finds out what AI is worth to them on a scale where being wrong is cheap.

We are engineers rather than advisers. The same people who scope the work build it, which is why we can be specific about what is feasible and blunt about what is not.

Who we work with

Typically businesses of roughly 10–200 people, with repetitive knowledge work and no dedicated AI or data engineering team:

  • Construction and building services
  • Property and facilities management
  • Inspection and testing
  • Compliance and certification
  • Small manufacturing businesses
  • Professional services and technical consultancies
  • Logistics, operations and procurement-heavy businesses

If your business is document-heavy and process-driven, the sector matters far less than the shape of the work.

How we work

What we hold to

These are the rules we apply to our own work, and the ones worth judging us against.

01

Solve a real business problem

The starting point is always a process somebody is stuck doing, not a technology we would like to deploy. If we cannot name the problem, there is nothing to build.

02

Simple solutions before complex ones

A lot of repetitive work does not need sophisticated AI at all. We use the simplest thing that solves the problem reliably, and reach for more only when the work genuinely requires it.

03

Focused pilots, measurable outcomes

One workflow, clearly scoped, with an agreed idea of what better looks like before we start. Measurement is not something we add at the end to justify the invoice.

04

Human oversight by design

People stay responsible for decisions that matter. We design where the review point sits at the same time as we design the automation, not afterwards.

05

Transparency about what it does

You should be able to see how an output was produced and trace it back to its source. Systems nobody can inspect are systems nobody should rely on.

06

Honest about the limits

Some processes are not good candidates, and some should stay manual. We would rather tell you that during a free review than discover it halfway through a paid project.

Zapwiser and QMerse

Two names, one job

Zapwiser is the consultancy. It is who you talk to, who works out what should be automated, who builds it and who supports it afterwards.

QMerse is our visual workflow platform — the technology the automations are built and run on. It is what lets us connect documents, data, AI models, business tools and human decision points, and what keeps every step inspectable.

You do not need to learn QMerse, buy it or operate it to work with us. If you ever want to take it on yourself, you can — but the default is that we run it for you.
